Organizations are collecting and analyzing increasing amounts of data making it difficult for traditional on-premises solutions for data storage, data management, and analytics to keep pace. Amazon S3 and Amazon Glacier provide an ideal storage solution for data lakes. They provide options such as a breadth and depth of integration with traditional big data analytics tools as well as innovative query-in-place analytics tools that help you eliminate costly and complex extract, transform, and load processes.
This guide explains each of these options and provides best practices for building your Amazon S3-based data lake.
Defining the Data Lake
“Big data” is an idea as much as a particular methodology or technology, yet it’s an idea that is enabling powerful insights, faster and better decisions, and even business transformations across many industries. In general, big data can be characterized as an approach to extracting insights from very large quantities of structured and unstructured data from varied sources at a speed that is immediate (enough) for the particular analytics use case.
With data the new competitive battleground, businesses that take advantage of
their data will be the leaders; those that do not will fall behind.
But gaining an advantage is a more difficult technical challenge than ever because
your business requirements are ever-changing, your analytic workloads are
exploding, and your data is now widely-distributed across on-premises, big data,
the Internet of Things, and the Cloud.
TIBCO® Data Virtualization is data virtualization software that lets you integrate
data at big data scale with breakthrough speed and cost effectiveness. With
TIBCO Data Virtualization, you can build and manage virtualized views / data
services that access, transform, and deliver the data your business requires to
accelerate revenue, reduce costs, lessen risk, improve compliance, and more.
The popularity of integration platform as a service (iPaaS) started with business users looking to gain control and share data among their proliferating SaaS apps?without needing IT intervention.
iPaaS was then adopted by IT to support business users to ensure security measures were being maintained and to provide more of a self-service environment. Now, iPaaS has evolved from a niche solution to taking a much bigger role:

Big data has raised the bar for data virtualization products. To keep pace, TIBCO® Data Virtualization added a massively parallel processing engine that supports big-data scale workloads. Read this whitepaper to learn how it works.
With big data, you can understand your consumers better than ever before. But for smarter advertising, you need to harness a more complete view of your consumers, both online and offline.

Digital transformation is not a buzzword. IT has moved from the back office to the front office in nearly
every aspect of business operations, driven by what IDC calls the 3rd Platform of compute with mobile,
social business, cloud, and big data analytics as the pillars. In this new environment, business leaders
are facing the challenge of lifting their organization to new levels of competitive capability, that of
digital transformation — leveraging digital technologies together with organizational, operational, and
business model innovation to develop new growth strategies. One such challenge is helping the
business efficiently reap value from big data and avoid being taken out by a competitor or disruptor
that figures out new opportunities from big data analytics before the business does.
From an IT perspective, there is a fairly straightforward sequence of applications that businesses can
adopt over time that will help put direction into this journey. IDC outlines this sequence to e
Data is the lifeblood of business. And in the era of digital business,
the organizations that utilize data most effectively are also the most
successful. Whether structured, unstructured or semi-structured,
rapidly increasing data quantities must be brought into organizations,
stored and put to work to enable business strategies. Data integration
tools play a critical role in extracting data from a variety of sources and
making it available for enterprise applications, business intelligence
(BI), machine learning (ML) and other purposes. Many organization
seek to enhance the value of data for line-of-business managers by
enabling self-service access. This is increasingly important as large
volumes of unstructured data from Internet-of-Things (IOT) devices
are presenting organizations with opportunities for game-changing
insights from big data analytics. A new survey of 369 IT professionals,
from managers to directors and VPs of IT, by BizTechInsights on
behalf of IBM reveals the challe

The public sector has invested in big time in big data. But there’s one thing most public sector entities are dropping the ball on: real-time data, and how it can be combined with big data to increase citizen safety and make mission-critical digital transformation projects happen on-time and on budget. Read this white paper to learn why public sector entities need both big data and real-time data if they are going to deliver on their digital transformation promises.
"The percentage of consumers making purchases online has officially outpaced those who don’t.
But what does this mean for brands? Once tethered largely to wholesale and resale, the door has been opened for brands to try a variety of selling options. And they are.
The time is now for brands to step into the e-commerce game and figure out the best approach for them.
In this white paper, we’ll dive into six critical components that all brands should be watching as the industry evolves:
- Customer connections
- Relationships with retailers
- Quality of product content
- Marketplace management
- Social commerce influence
- Big data for brands"
In today's big data digital world, your organization produces large volumes of data with great velocity. Generating value from this data and guiding decision making require quick capture, analysis and action. Without strategies to turn data into insights, the data loses its value and insights become irrelevant. Real-time data inegration and analytics tools play a crucial role in harnessing your data so you can enable business and IT stakeholders to make evidence-based decisions

In this whitepaper, we take a closer look at some of the biggest challenges facing e-commerce businesses, namely understanding your data in general and, more precisely, your customer acquisition costs (CAC).
It's full of inspiration, useful tips and actionable insights for you to step up your marketing game.
In order to reap the fruits from your data seeds, you have to make sure you tackle these five challenges full-frontal:
Knowing what data to capture
Understanding customer behaviour
Finding your technology solution

For financial business leaders and other c-level executives, moving away from unclear or ambiguous “improvements” to quantifiable measurements is crucial to the overall organization. Hard, meaningful data substantiates the execution of strategic, long-term business decisions. As technology is rapidly changing, executives can be challenged to find the right systems that drive business performance, provide competitive advantages, and increase the bottom line.

Successful business in the 21st century is based on data: gathering it, managing it, leveraging it. The importance of data to create efficient and effective operations has grown exponentially in just a few years, tracking alongside the rapid proliferation of devices and the technological breakthroughs in networks and connectivity. Concepts like the Internet of Things (IoT) or Industry 4.0 have become as routine to EHS managers as duties related to employee health and safety.
However, while EHS managers may understand the essence of big data, putting those ideals into practice is a much harder task. The sheer amount of data generated and collected is the greatest barrier.

There’s strong evidence organizations are challenged by the opportunities presented by external information sources such as social media, government trend data, and sensor data from the Internet of Things (IoT). No longer content to use internal databases alone, they see big data resources augmented with external information resources as what they need in order to bring about meaningful change. According to a September 2015 global survey of 251 respondents conducted by Harvard Business Review Analytic Services, 78 percent of organizations agree or strongly agree that within two years the use of externally generated big data will be “transformational.” But there’s work to be done, since only 21 percent of respondents strongly agree that external data has already had a transformational effect on their firms.
