Cohesity provides the only hyper-converged platform that eliminates the complexity of traditional data protection solutions by unifying your end-to-end data protection infrastructure – including target storage, backup, replication, disaster recovery, and cloud tiering. Cohesity DataPlatform provides scale-out, globally deduped, highly available storage to consolidate all your secondary data, including backups, files, and test / dev copies. Cohesity also provides Cohesity DataProtect, a complete backup and recovery solution fully converged with Cohesity DataPlatform. It simplifies backup infrastructure and eliminates the need to run separate backup software, proxies, media servers, and replication. This paper specifically focuses on the business and technical benefits of Cohesity DataPlatform for the data protection use case. It is intended for IT professionals interested in learning more about Cohesity’s technology differentiation and advantages it offers for data protection - (i) Elim

Data deduplication is one of a few standout technologies where the CIO can make an investment which is easy to rationalize and brings a fast payback. This paper explains why data deduplication should be on every CIO's project short list in 2009.
VMware sites create more storage to manage and protect than their physical counterparts. This report showcases how EMC Backup and Recovery Solutions for VMware have helped customers redesign their backup operations.
EMC backup and recovery solutions for VMware combine industry-leading deduplication storage and software to help you fully realize the benefits of virtualization. VMware servers consolidate production workloads well, but backups create bottlenecks that tax network and storage resources.
This document examines VMware's implementation of the Avamar technology, including a discussion of its organizational challenges and evaluation requirements. VMware's results are highlighted and future implementation plans are summarized.
This white paper describes components of the VMware vSphere and VMware View solutions and discusses options for protecting these environments using EMC Avamar with global source-based data deduplication.
This data sheet describes how EMC Avamar backup and recovery software provides fast, efficient data protection for VMware environments. It explains Avamar support for deduplicated guest- and image-level daily full backups; and flexible Avamar server deployment options.
This workbook helps you assess current needs and usage and determine where deduplication can positively affect your IT consolidation initiatives, help reduce costs, and create a more "green" environment.
Data profile assessments will let us help you determine the best match for your situation, the data you are looking to protect, your service level agreements, and the specifics of your current challenges and environment.
This document showcases EMC's portfolio of backup and recovery products and describes how they provide the flexibility and scalability to meet the data protection needs of enterprises of all sizes.

The purpose of deduplication is to provide more storage, particularly backup storage, for less money, right? Then wouldn't it be ridiculous if deduplication vendors were demanding that their customers pay more per terabyte of storage? Or, if they were simply pushing the task of integrating, monitoring, and managing deduplication back onto their users? This white paper is to help you understand the various approaches to deduplication, the strengths and weaknesses of each, and to introduce a different approach to deduplication, Adaptive Deduplication.

Today, data volumes are growing exponentially and organizations of every size are struggling to manage what has become a very expensive and complex problem. It causes real issues such as:
• Overprovisioning their backup infrastructure to anticipate rapid future growth.
• Legacy systems can’t cope and backups take too long or are incomplete.
• Companies miss recovery point objectives and recovery time targets.
• Backups overload infrastructure and network bandwidth.
• Not embracing new technologies, such as cloud backup, because there is too much data to transfer over wide area networks.

Enterprise Strategy Group shares why client-side deduplication is the best. Dedupe 2.0 leverages intelligence and awareness at the source, backup server, and storage device. In these scenarios, the awareness of what data is already in the deduplicated storage and the discernment to send new data or not is performed within the production server instead of the backup server or deduplicated storage. Hence, network savings begin at the production server and backups are significantly faster since only changed data is transmitted from the production server to the storage solution.

This report covers the challenges of first generation deduplication technology and the advantages of next-gen deduplication products. Next generation Dedupe 2.0 systems use a common deduplication algorithm across all storage systems-whether they're smaller systems in branch offices or large data center storage facilities. That means no more reconstituting data as it traverses different storage systems, which saves bandwidth and improves performance.
