To compete in today’s world, business leaders are placing increased demands on IT. Unfortunately, many IT departments are not able to deliver future innovation with their current infrastructure, applications and processes. To meet these demands, IT must digitally transform the enterprise through the adoption of cloud native practices, allowing them to both optimize and transform their existing infrastructure and applications. Recent Avanade research supports this thinking, finding that 88% of senior IT decision-makers believe that IT modernization is crucial to addressing the emerging requirements of the digital business1 . On the upside, those surveyed also indicated that by modernizing their IT infrastructures they expect to deliver real business results, such as boosting annual revenue by 14%, while at the same time reducing business operating costs by 13%1 . For many, this sounds like a winning strategy but what does it mean to adopt cloud native approaches, and how does it impact

IT Transformation is a concept that resonates with companies even more now than it did 12 months ago. It sounds like another current term, “digital transformation.” But in fact, effective digital transformation doesn’t happen without IT Transformation. A company that undergoes IT infrastructure transformation no longer has to rely on rigid, manual, siloed, legacy technologies. It sees a boost in IT operational speed, efficiency, scale, and cost effectiveness—tasks are automated, processes streamlined, and resources are freed up. Those IT-level improvements fuel a larger-scale digital transformation, allowing the company to thrive in today’s digital economy. It is able to out-innovate, out-think, and out-pace its competitors—ultimately becoming the disruptor, not the disrupted.

Transforming Cloud Connectivity & Security in Distributed Networks Today’s digital transformation initiatives frequently begin with moving applications and data to the cloud. But traditional networking and security infrastructure, such as backhauling data from remote locations to central offices over MPLS lines, can’t keep up. Fortunately, new approaches that also move connectivity and security to the cloud are rapidly overcoming these hurdles. Technologies such as direct-to-cloud SD-WAN and site-to-site VPNs dramatically cut the cost of connectivity. However, they put pressure on other parts of the organization to adopt new ways of defending each site against internet intruders, protecting the use of web content, and securing data stored in cloud apps. In this webcast, we’ll discuss a new, integrated approach to connectivity and security. View the webinar today!

Digital transformation encompasses both technological and human components. While many initiatives focus on ensuring that a company’s multi-cloud infrastructure is agile enough to meet changing demands around cloud mobile, Internet of Things (IoT), and big data, it’s equally important to empower business workers with the modern digital tools they need to be successful today. Artificial intelligence and machine learning can play a vital role on both of these fronts. In fact, 78 percent of CIOs and senior IT leaders are already looking to AI to address complexity,1 and by 2019, 30 percent of IT service desks will utilize machine learning to free up support capacity.2 The magnitude of change has forced companies to take stock of the experience they offer employees. As digital natives3 enter and advance in the workforce, talent retention is now a top priority. These workers expect to have the best tools; 93 percent of millennials cited modern and up-to-date technology as one of the most

As digital business evolves, however, we’re finding that the best form of security and enablement will likely remove any real responsibility from users. They will not be required to carry tokens, recall passwords or execute on any security routines. Leveraging machine learning, artificial intelligence, device identity and other technologies will make security stronger, yet far more transparent. From a security standpoint, this will lead to better outcomes for enterprises in terms of breach prevention and data protection. Just as important, however, it will enable authorized users in new ways. They will be able to access the networks, data and collaboration tools they need without friction, saving time and frustration. More time drives increased employee productivity and frictionless access to critical data leads to business agility. Leveraging cloud, mobile and Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructures, enterprises will be able to transform key metrics such as productivity, profitabilit

Midsized firms operate in the same hypercompetitive, digital environment as large enterprises—but with fewer technical and budget resources to draw from. That’s why it is essential for IT leaders to leverage best-practice processes and models that can help them support strategic business goals such as agility, innovation, speed-tomarket, and always-on business operations. A hybrid IT implementation can provide the infrastructure flexibility to support the next generation of high-performance, data-intensive applications. A hybrid foundation can also facilitate new, collaborative processes that bring together IT and business stakeholders.

While the shift from disk to digital offers tremendous potential opportunities, it also presents a host of new challenges for gaming companies. As the online channel grows increasingly complex and the pace of innovation accelerates, many companies struggle to keep up. Not only are there websites and storefronts to manage, but also real-time gaming servers, large software downloads, and live-streamed competitions and events. Games are transforming from fixed, boxed products to dynamic, ongoing services – with frequently updated content, in-game micro-transactions, virtual goods and social interactions. Mobile adds another dimension to the trend, as consumers increasingly look to play on smart phones and tablets – or on multiple screens across devices. To successfully navigate this complex and changing landscape, gaming companies need an agile, high- performance infrastructure that allows them to turn the Internet into a reliable and effective online distribution channel. IT is undergoing a significant transformation as businesses look to streamline costs and roll out a new class of cloud-based applications driven by a changing digital economy. The IT infrastructure as we know it today is not well equipped to improve on the cost structure for traditional workloads nor handle the velocity demands of a new generation of workloads where IT is a focal point for competitive differentiation. As one approach to address these changing demands of IT, vendors are bringing to market new solutions under a new category called “composable infrastructure”.

Mobile devices have brought advancements to virtually all aspects of modern life and have had transformative effects on businesses spanning all industries. However, the positive business effects that can be brought about by mobility and "going digital" are not enjoyed as frequently within small and midsize businesses (SMBs) as they are within larger organizations. While potential benefits are there, small and midmarket organizations may have fewer resources available and can find difficulty in realizing the full value of the enterprise mobility infrastructure. Often, organizations find themselves having to make trade-offs between richness of functionality and available resources.
