We are in the midst of a global productivity crisis. The IMF estimates that if productivity growth had followed its pre-2008 financial crisis trend, overall GDP in advanced economies would be about 5% higher today. However, to blame everything on the financial crisis is misleading. The overall trend in productivity growth is stagnant and has been on a downward trend for the last several years. Cisco engaged Miercom to conduct a competitive analysis of its Catalyst 2960-X switch versus two comparable Hewlett-Packard switches from the 2920 and 5120 product families. Miercom executed comprehensive hands-on testing and evaluated the performance of some widely deployed features that are critical for reliable functioning of enterprise networks. The test methodology focused on specific areas in which Cisco believed there were key competitive differentiators between the products. Test results validated include throughput, latency, energy efficiency, stacking, LACP load balancing and Quality of Services (QoS) performance. Miercom found that the Cisco Catalyst 2960-X demonstrated superior performances against the competitive switches in the tests featured in this report.

Research conducted by The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), sponsored by Oracle, provides answers. The results show that a proactive security strategy backed by a fully engaged C-suite and board of directors reduced the growth of cyber-attacks and breaches by 53% over comparable firms. These findings were compiled from responses by 300 firms, across multiple industries, against a range of attack modes and over a two-year period from February 2014 to January 2016. The lessons are clear. As cyber-attackers elevate their game, the response must be an enterprise solution. Only C-suites and boards of directors marshal the authority and resources to support a truly enterprise-wide approach. In sum, proactive cyber-security strategies, supported by senior management, can cut vulnerability to cyber-attack in half.

HPE Nimble Storage has broken away from convention and transformed how storage is managed and supported with the HPE InfoSight predictive analytics platform. HPE engaged ESG to conduct a quantitative survey of the HPE Nimble Storage installed base, as well as non-HPE Nimble Storage customers, to better assess how HPE InfoSight positively impacts customer environments. Both HPE InfoSight telemetry data and ESG’s quantitative survey data show that the benefit delivered to HPE Nimble Storage customers is significant, driving: • 79% lower IT operational expenses. • 73% fewer trouble tickets in the environment, which are resolved faster. • 85% less time spent resolving storage-related trouble tickets. • 69% faster time to resolution for events that necessitate level 3 support. • The ability to manage and troubleshoot the entire infrastructure environment from a single, intelligent platform.
