OTS' experiences with all-flash technology mirror what many customers have experienced over the past several years. Hesitatingly optimistic, OTS deployed its first AFA in a limited environment to prove the system out, and when it performed and/or exceeded the company's expectations, it quickly started moving more workloads to it over time. Like OTS, many customers do not immediately retire their legacy storage, but in moving the more demanding workloads off of their existing environments, they provide better application performance both for those applications on the AFA and for those that stay on the legacy storage. And like OTS, the majority of AFA customers have in the past year in particular come to the conclusion that all-flash technology is the future of primary storage for performance, reliability, ease of management and expansion, and economic (as measured by total cost of ownership) reasons.

The NetApp flash portfolio is capable of solving database performance and I/O latency problems encountered by many database deployments. The majority of databases have a random I/O workload that creates performance problems for spinning media, but is well-suited for today’s flash technologies. NetApp has a diverse enterprise-class flash portfolio consisting of flash in the storage controller (Flash Cache™ intelligent caching), flash within the disk shelves (Flash Pool™ intelligent caching), and all-flash arrays (EF-Series and All-flash FAS). This portfolio can be used to solve complex database performance requirements at multiple levels within a customer’s Oracle environment. This document reviews Oracle database observations and results when implementing flash technologies offered within the NetApp flash portfolio.

As the volume of unstructured data created and used continues to increase rapidly, organizations are faced with challenges around data storage. In response, many new technologies — specifically objectbased storage, software-defined storage, all-flash arrays, and cloud-based storage services — are experiencing rapid adoption. Yet object-based storage has been limited by the need to rewrite existing file-based applications — a prospect that is costly and requires more manpower than is practical for many organizations. Cloudian offers both an object storage platform and more recently an enterprise file services product. When deployed together, Cloudian's products are designed to consolidate file and object data into a single repository and can enable organizations to manage environments that span the cloud as well as on-premises.

This White Paper provides information on how Flash is now rapidly and violently disrupting the disk status quo, and not just, or even mainly, because it is fast. Yes, the early integration of SSDs into a storage strategy was all about accelerating specific workloads, followed by getting a better overall balance of price/performance in external storage arrays.

Looking for the right Flash Array for you? Tired of all data being treated the same but want to save time and budget? Flash storage is helping to address the latency inherent with disk drives, enabling you to virtualize more, and reduce application response times. It's an inescapable fact that the $/GB of flash is much higher than disk drives. So why do the majority of storage vendors indiscriminately accelerate all data, regardless of its value to your business? All-flash arrays waste money by storing non-critical data in flash, and hybrid arrays can't control whether mission-critical or non-critical data accesses flash, leading to unpredictable performance. So what do you do to find a solution that addresses both of these issues? Download now and see NexGen's approach to value-driven data management. Make it simple to control what data is stored in flash and affordably tailor application performance to match your organizations priorities now! - See more at: http://www.findwhitep
