In the past decade, banks have applied a vast array of strategies to attract new customers—free checking, high interest savings, low interest mortgage, cash deposits, and product give-a-ways. Many offers were bundles with credit, either in the form of a new credit line or in the form of low interest on transferred credit balances.
The purpose is to attract new customers who bring new account balances. Although successful in attracting new customers, those customers usually brought small balances. It didn’t matter if each account’s balance was small. The sum of these small account balances would be a very large amount. AON’s Human Capital division needed a better way to automate their data transfer processes. They wanted a simple yet flexible system that didn’t require customization to adapt to growing needs. They wanted to consolidate their sensitive data transfers and ensure the security of this data and to provide integration with current workflow and key legacy applications. AON deployed the GlobalSCAPE EFT (Enhanced File Transfer) server.
In 2010, Queens Pediatrics began evaluating Electronic Health Record (EHR) solutions to improve access to patient records. The practice’s affiliation with North Shore LIJ prompted it to evaluate solutions from Allscripts. North Shore LIJ is the largest user of Allscripts system and provides a financial subsidy to its affiliated practices that adopt the solutions.
The challenge for Queens Pediatrics was the small size of its offices, which didn’t provide enough room for multiple workstations or to move mobile computer carts through the hallways. “There were only two options. The physicians either had to use a laptop or we had to have a PC in each room, and that doesn’t work well in a pediatric office,” said Janette Finn, the Practice Manager at Queens Pediatrics.
