Marketers are spending money in all the wrong places. A recent Harvard Business Review article highlights the need for marketers to shift their focus from paid media spend to driving Advocacy in order to align with the changing nature of consumer engagement and purchase decisions.
On any given day, you can ask every passenger on any given airliner what fare they’ve paid, and you’re likely to get as many different answers as the number of passengers willing (and able) to tell you. This plethora of fares is a product of complex revenue management systems evolved by airlines to optimize seat revenues. But is the current system of management the revenue endgame? Or is there an opportunity to look beyond traditional accept-or-reject decisions to build a more customer-centric revenue management system — one that builds on new customer insights to drive management decisions and uncover new sources of revenue?
One of the big challenges in search engine marketing is getting all of the volume you want from your campaign. However, the available volume in paid search is sometimes limited, and prevents you from getting to where you want to in your campaign. In other words, people only search so much on keywords related to your campaign, and there is nothing you can do with your paid search campaign that can change that. Getting at as much (profitable) volume as you can is what it ends up being all about.

Many business-to-business (B2B) marketers fail at search without even knowing it. The very basic performance reports available through Google™ and other search providers can lead an advertiser to believe that his or her campaign is generating plenty of qualified interest, when the actual truth could be precisely the opposite.
This paper analyzes case studies aimed to determine how changes in public discussion (unpaid media) correlate to changes in business outcomes. It focuses on analyzing tonality and message, and how they modify the effect of pure media coverage volume in correlations against outcomes.
In the times of increased awareness and integrated communication across channels, it is crucial to understand correlation between the advertising spend and the PR that surrounds your brand. This report sheds new light on the impact of earned and paid media on the effectiveness of paid advertising.
Accounts receivable (AR) is no second-rate department. Not only is it usually the largest company asset, it deals directly with customers and cash flow — things businesses can’t do without. You'd think internal AR processes would be on the cutting edge of innovation, right? Yeahhh … not so much.
While departments like sales, marketing and payroll have embraced the use of software solutions, AR has been slow to catch up, with many still relying on sticky notes, calendar reminders and spreadsheets to manage post-sale collections activities.
Read this eBook to discover how automation can:
• Be a complementary tool that eliminates tedious tasks
• Be multi-dimensional, in that its usage can be extended into other areas of AR
• Drive repeat sales and allow you to get paid faster

Moving a business’ email from a free
service to a paid, hosted solution is a big
commitment. In fact, it can seem almost
counterintuitive: Why pay for something
you can get for free? But on closer
examination, the reasons become clear.
The old adage, "you get what you pay for" may no longer be true when it comes to traditional paid media investments. Effectiveness of traditional advertising and paid media - TV, newspaper, print - is on the decline, so marketers are choosing to push their dollars to social advertisements. In fact, 62% of marketers expect to increase their spending on Facebook marketing, along with other social media sites, over the next year.
Marketers now must focus their attention on getting more from their advertising efforts by making sure that their media strategies work together. This means their paid media must work with their owned media to get more consumers to engage and participate - thus driving more earned media and amplification for their brand.

We are living in the most revolutionary era in human communication since the invention of the printing press. For the past few years, marketers have ‘woken up’ to consumers who have the power to express their views anytime and anywhere. ‘Social’ is hot, and if nothing else, a response to this awakening. Now, the lines between paid, owned and earned media have been blurred, if not erased. Social media crosses the barrier between the three. It’s fast-paced and chaotic.
We partnered with the research firm Sentient Services and surveyed more than 200 consumers about their attitudes, opinions and beliefs about brands and social media integration. The respondents come from all over the country, with all different incomes, lifestyles, and social media habits. Universally, the data supports what we’ve already seen in action: consumers want to engage with brands that integrate social media, and they prefer to do business with social brands.
Let's get started!
The new world order of media and advertising demands that brands experiment and search for new ways to drive consumer engagement. As marketing and media strategy becomes ever more important, brands must look for ways to optimize paid, owned and earned media. Paid media is everything that you spend advertising dollars on such as TV, radio, print, digital advertising, and sponsorships. Owned media includes your website and other “owned” assets, and earned media is defined by the social amplification and interaction you “earn” through active participation with your customers.
How do you create the perfect “owned media” experience for your customers, and what is the right formula for paid media to maximize your earned media opportunity?
