"High-profile cyber attacks seem to occur almost daily in recent years. Clearly security threats are persistent and growing. While many organizations have adopted a defense-in-depth strategy — utilizing anti-virus protection, firewalls, intruder prevention systems, sandboxing, and secure web gateways — most IT departments still fail to explicitly protect the Domain Name System (DNS). This oversight leaves a massive gap in network defenses. But this infrastructure doesn’t have to be a vulnerability. Solutions that protect recursive DNS (rDNS) can serve as a simple and effective security control point for end users and devices on your network. Read this white paper to learn more about how rDNS is putting your enterprise at risk, why you need a security checkpoint at this infrastructural layer, how rDNS security solutio Read 5 Reasons Enterprises Need a New Access Model to learn about the fundamental changes enterprises need to make when providing access to their private applications.

To best support global users and customers, enterprises require seamlessly connectivity between branch office locations, applications, and workloads hosted in the cloud. Many WAN solutions are ill-equipped for this task because they are generally rigid, complex to configure, and expensive to maintain. IoT adoption, a dramatic increase of the number of network devices, and the sophistication of security threats further compounds this challenge. Geographically-distributed devices need secure cloud connectivity, limiting the ability of existing WAN solutions to fulfill the need of distributed organizations. Cisco SD-WAN on Amazon Web Services (AWS) is an overlay WAN architecture that is designed to address modern enterprise cloud applications and workloads, heterogeneous WAN connectivity, distributed global workforces, and other business needs that traditional WAN solutions cannot meet. If your company stores or processes credit card information, you must be able to demonstrate compliance with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards (DSS). These standards include requirements for security management, policies, procedures, network architecture, design, and other critical protective measures. They also include one very prescriptive requirement:  Section 6.6 mandates that organizations secure all Web applications by conducting a code review or installing an application layer firewall. Companies have had a very difficult time passing the other parts of Section 6 and they have experienced a rising number of data breaches. Unless companies take 6.6 seriously, PCI compliance failure rates, and data breaches, will continue to grow.  Read this whitepaper to gain an overview of best practices to pass Section 6.6 and an understanding of the technology available to you.

"Visibility and control of endpoint devices are critical to securely manage your workloads in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) environment. Ideally, teams want to gain real-time visibility and control without having to deploy an additional agent onto the Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instance. They want a tool that allows them to span physical, virtual and cloud environments of their existing on-premises endpoints and Amazon EC2 instances. CrowdStrike® Falcon Discover™ platform allows you to identify unauthorized systems and applications in real time and quickly remediate issues, ensuring the integrity of your data. Download this datasheet to learn the key benefits of cloud-native CrowdStrike Falcon Discover, including: • Visibility and control over their endpoints whether they are running on-premises or as Amazon EC2 instances • The ability to scale easily to match the dynamic nature of Amazon EC2 instances "

This Webroot whitepaper compares deploying secure web gateways as software or appliances on-premises vs. as a cloud-based service. Lower cost, fast implementation, rapid scalability and less administration are all good reasons to adopt SaaS and cloud-based applications. In addition to these benefits, cloud-based secure web gateways can also provide better security and faster performance than appliances or local servers. It discusses a number of advantages of cloud-based solutions that appliances cannot match, such as: • Better defense against zero-day threats and spam servers • More comprehensive signature and URL database • Supports remote users more securely and without the cost of putting servers in every location

As businesses grow increasingly dependent upon Web applications, these complex entities are becoming more difficult to secure. Most companies equip their Web sites with firewalls, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), and network and host security, but the majority of attacks are on applications themselves.

This paper explores the role of white box vs. black box testing. White box testing technologies have a definite but limited use and value. From a Web application security perspective it must be understood that significant blind spots come with white box testing. Ultimately white box testing is not sufficient to secure your applications: simply put organizations that rely solely on white box technologies will be exposed to vulnerabilities in their applications, thus making it an ineffectual method of testing real-world risks. This paper will demonstrate black box or dynamic testing is ultimately the appropriate solution for “truly” securing Web applications.
