Whether you know it as Industry 4.0, the 4th Industrial Revolution, or Smart Industry, Manufacturing is going through a deep transformation, with changes that are centered around digitalization. While most industries are already on this digitalization path, the disruption is more visible and pronounced in manufacturing because it is expanding virtual data and processes into environments that have been fundamentally about physical products. This transformation has already started, and its impact is expected to be massive. Technical, economic, and social changes are expected across the whole manufacturing ecosystem, with jobs shifting from offshoring back to nearshoring. Strong technology elements driving this digital revolution include 3D printing, robotizing and automation, smart factory with IoT and machine learning, and supply chain digitization. Their impact is profound.
Enterprises use data virtualization software such as TIBCO® Data Virtualization to reduce data bottlenecks so more insights can be delivered for better business outcomes. For developers, data virtualization allows applications to access and use data without needing to know its technical details, such as how it is formatted or where it is physically located. For developers, data virtualization helps rapidly create reusable data services that access and transform data and deliver data analytics with even heavylifting reads completed quickly, securely, and with high performance. These data services can then be coalesced into a common data layer that can support a wide range of analytic and applications use cases. Data engineers and analytics development teams are big data virtualization users, with Gartner predicting over 50% of these teams adopting the technology by 202
A data science platform is where all data science work takes place and acts as the system of record for predictive models. While a few leading model-driven businesses have made the data science platform an integral part of their enterprise architecture, most companies are still trying to understand what a data science platform is and how it fits into their architecture. Data science is unlike other technical disciplines, and models are not like software or data. Therefore, a data science platform requires a different type of technology platform.
This document provides IT leaders with the top 10 questions to ask of data science platforms to ensure the platform handles the uniqueness of data science work.
Enterprise content is growing at an average rate of 200% per year-and the risks of noncompliance are growing even faster. This paper examines the business and technical difficulties of managing content from disparate systems and presents the most viable alternatives for addressing these challenges.
Since Adobe debuted the PDF file format in the early 1990s, it has become the defacto standard for electronic documents in many markets. While engineers, publishers, and printers push the format to its technical limits with rich media and 3-D content, the general office worker comprises the PDF-using majority.
Achieving effective and efficient high availability protection for larger IBM i environments requires careful thought and clear understanding of the technology options. This white paper describes what you need to know in order to make an informed decision about IBM i high availability strategies so that your business requirements for Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and Recovery Point Objective (RPO) are not compromised
Cisco® Collaboration Flex Plan gives you access to Cisco’s collaboration products, allowing you to mix and match buying models and deployment models in a single subscription depending on your buying needs. One subscription covers entitlement and technical support for: (a) the cloud services Cisco Webex® Meetings, Cisco Webex Calling, Cisco BroadCloud Calling, and Cisco Webex Teams and (b) the software Cisco Unified Communications Manager and Cisco Meeting Server.
Midsized firms operate in the same hypercompetitive, digital environment as large enterprises—but with fewer technical and budget resources to draw from. That’s why it is essential for IT leaders to leverage best-practice processes and models that can help them support strategic business goals such as agility, innovation, speed-tomarket, and always-on business operations. A hybrid IT implementation can provide the infrastructure flexibility to support the next generation of high-performance, data-intensive applications. A hybrid foundation can also facilitate new, collaborative processes that bring together IT and business stakeholders.

Customers are more technically savvy than everand have come to prefer the DIY approach to solving their issues and answering their own questions. Years of research by ICMI has confirmed that customers prefer to resolve issues themselves and within their channels of choice. Furthermore, customers onlyseek direct interactions when they unsuccessfully exhaust their self-service options. This is backed up by data from American Express, which found that 48% of consumers prefer to speak with a customer service rep when dealing with complex issues, but only16% prefer the same contact for simple issues. The goal
of this paper is simple: We want to help you build an all-in-one knowledge base, community, and customer portal. All of which can be accomplished with a help center like Zendesk Guide.
For midsize firms around the world with 100 to 999 employees, advanced technology plays an increasingly important role in business success. Companies have been adding cloud resources to supplement on-premise server, storage, and networking capabilities. At the same time, growth of mobile and remote workers is also changing how companies need to support workers to allow them to be as productive as possible. Like larger companies, midsize firms must make sure that they are effectively coordinating on-premise, public cloud, and private cloud capabilities. Unlike large companies, though, midsize firms are limited in both financial and technical resources to design and coordinate effective solutions to meet specific needs. Rather than invest in a major overhaul of their IT environments, midsize firms have to move incrementally, supplementing current resources with new cloud and on-premise capabilities that provide the performance needed to prosper in an increasingly competitive environment.
This paper explains both UC and the attraction to the cloud or specifically UCaaS (Unified Communications as a Service). Hosted communications is the only communications sector experiencing recent, consistent, year-over-year growth. The model offers businesses operational, financial and technical advantages. UCaaS offers a transformation in business communications and collaboration. There’s a lot of change taking place, and it is good news for business enterprises.
The IDPA DP4400 provides modern and powerful data protection for midsize organizations allowing companies to leverage the benefits of the cloud within their existing environments. The DP4400 can help transform your environment for the future, laying the technical foundation for the data center while modernizing your data protection for the cloud.
Today’s data centers are expected to deploy, manage, and report on different tiers of business applications, databases, virtual workloads, home
directories, and file sharing simultaneously. They also need to co-locate multiple systems while sharing power and energy. This is true for large as
well as small environments. The trend in modern IT is to consolidate as much as possible to minimize cost and maximize efficiency of data
centers and branch offices. HPE 3PAR StoreServ is highly efficient, flash-optimized storage engineered for the true convergence of block, file,
and object access to help consolidate diverse workloads efficiently. HPE 3PAR OS and converged controllers incorporate multiprotocol support
into the heart of the system architecture
Web application and DDoS attacks hit enterprises without warning or reason. Most Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks require little skill to launch with attackers can simply rent resources from DDoS-for-hire sites at a low cost.. In comparison, DDoS attacks typically result in:
• Operational disruption
• Loss of confidential data
• Lost user productivity
• Reputational harm
• Damage to partner and customer relations
• Lost revenue
Depending on your industry, that could add up to tens of thousands of dollars in damage – and in some cases it could be millions. Only 2% of organizations said their web applications had not been compromised in the past 12 months – 98% said they had.

Imagine the benefits that a VDI environment could realize during a boot storm. All the VMs are based on the same template, and therefore they all have the same set of files during initial boot. Normally, 100 VMs all booting at the same time would require a significant number of HDDs, but with this hyperconverged infrastructure platform, the first VM to boot reads the block off the HDD, which promotes that block into cache. Now the next 99 VMs can all access that same block from cache. That’s a 100:1 IOPS reduction on the IOPS-bound disks.
With 50 to 100 billion things expected to be connected to the Internet by 2020, we are now experiencing a major paradigm shift that is revolutionizing business. More and more of the objects we use every day—including those in our factories, utilities, and railroads—are used to capture and distribute information that is helping us know more and do more. The TechWiseTV team and guest experts take an in-depth look at how industries like these are utilizing the data they are gathering from the factory floor all the way out to the field. This exploration into how the Internet of Things actually works in the real world and what your organization must do to take full advantage of it is a great opportunity to understand the practical challenges and specific technology involved in bringing all this potential to life.
