Society simply must change the way it serves its most vulnerable members. Service delivery models are outdated and constrained by budgets, organizational structures and legislation. Citizens aren’t getting what they need to become more self-sufficient and recover from hard times or significant events such as disasters. Government isn’t keeping up with the demand generated by the complex times we live in and agencies are stressed to the breaking point by current service expectations. Something different must be done to generate better outcomes. This action requires better engagement between government and citizens which can lead to more self-reliant individuals and lower demands and costs on government. In California, one county is tackling this challenge head on and has found a better way to serve their citizens.

Companies with multicloud services are outperforming their peers on a number of metrics — and achieving the key objectives that led them to the cloud services model. Take a look at the IT ecosystem of any company today and there’s a good chance you’ll find it includes offerings from several cloud services providers. That’s certainly the case at mid- to large-sized companies with at least 500 employees, according to a recent survey conducted by IDG Research. The survey of 100 senior IT professionals found that 59% are already multi-cloud adopters — that is, using computing and storage services from two or more cloud providers. Another 31% of respondents say they plan to become multi-cloud organizations in the coming 12-24 months, with only 10% still in the “consideration” phase. The survey results also reveal interesting insights into the drivers behind multicloud adoption. The perennial desire to reduce IT costs remains important, but the respondents rate two other factors.

Cyber security is today an unavoidable concern for law firms and the legal sector at large, which oversees disproportionately large volumes of sensitive data and which is therefore an attractive target for sophisticated threat actors. From confidential information about mergers and acquisitions to disclosures made under attorney-client privilege, today’s law firms are inundated with data that would be disastrous if leaked, both for the results of individual cases and for these firm’s long-term reputations. Indeed, this reputational damage diminishes the very trust upon which the legal profession is predicated, jeopardizing client relationships and hindering customer acquisition. Legal organizations lose 5% of their clients following a data breach, while significant or high-profile breaches can even prompt a firm’s eventual collapse, as was the case for Mossack Fonseca in the infamous Panama Papers breach. In today’s increasingly digital business world, even the most private legal docum

IT and business are changing rapidly. Growth opportunities in new markets, evolving customer behaviors and preferences, increased competitive pressure, and new standards in regulatory compliance are causing organizations to adapt their operations and processes.1 Even so, rigid legacy IT infrastructure can keep you from adjusting to change and reduce the business value of IT. These complex environments often limit flexibility, speed, and scalability, resulting in slow application and service delivery. Business success is increasingly based on your ability to react to change. As new disruptive players enter markets and technology upends what consumers expect, organizations increasingly need to change plans in much shorter cycles than ever before. Modern software architectures and processes can make organizations more effective at dealing with this change and emerging as winners in their markets. A new architectural framework called agile integration brings together three important architectural capabilities: containers, distributed integration, and application programming interfaces (APIs). This framework addresses how these key capabilities promote agility and power new processes within your organization to create competitive advantage. Industries like travel and hospitality have been transformed by new ways of doing business—new services are now offered, and consumers interact with services differently.
