Linux has long since staked its claim to the cloud. Red Hat Enterprise Linux, with its consistency, stability, scalability, and support, is in a class of its own. Offering an outstanding environment for application deployment and the economy and innovation of open source, Red Hat Enterprise Linux also provides the reliability you need.
Wherever an organization is in the world today, it relies on IT in its quest to drive revenues, improve profit margins, and service customers. Yet most small- to mid-sized businesses (SMBs) and government agencies select IT infrastructure solutions that drive higher costs and limit the business' ability to respond to changes in the marketplace. This is driven by perceptions that many IT executives running Linux and open source applications have regarding server platforms. Specifically, they erroneously believe that their best option is to execute the applications either on standalone or virtualized on x86 servers. RFG finds that there are 10 compelling reasons why an IBM LinuxONE solution is superior to an x86 one, including the fact that LinuxONE is a better, more economical choice.

Security is everyone’s job today, from consumers, to system administrators, to executives. If you are doing business, you need to elevate the priority of security across your organization and data center. Over the years, cybercriminals have gotten more advanced and better funded. They are entire teams of highly trained hackers, and they have built it into a very profitable business. Cybercrime is big business. In many cases, states have built their own cyberattack teams. These teams are no less important to their state strategies than their army or navy. And just like these cyber-attack teams are prepared to attack anyone, you too must be prepared to defend against anyone. Whether you know it or not, you are in a cyber war. You need to be prepared.
In this Webinar, you will learn:
- How Today's Environments Push The Limits Of Current Infrastructure
- Why Performance And Mixed Workloads Require A More Powerful Operating Ecosystem
- Key Recommendations and insights to improve architecture infrastructure performance and flexibility
The financial services industry has unique challenges that often prevent it from achieving its strategic goals. The keys to solving these issues are hidden in machine data—the largest category of big data—which is both untapped and full of potential.
Download this white paper to learn:
*How organizations can answer critical questions that have been impeding business success
*How the financial services industry can make great strides in security, compliance and IT
*Common machine data sources in financial services firms
In a world that demands scalability, modularity, quality, fast performance and a best practices approach is key to ensuring predictable results for the business. IBM’s PowerLinux Open Source Infrastructure Services solution is a workload-optimized system that meets or exceeds best practices for a virtualized infrastructure at a reasonable price point. The PowerLinux solution can help turn today’s IT infrastructure into a well-tuned utility, providing a more flexible, scalable and valuable asset to the business.

Today’s threat landscape has forced us, once again, to evolve how we think about and deliver effective security to protect endpoints (PCs, Macs, Linux, mobile devices, etc). Malware today is either on an endpoint or it’s headed there. Advanced malware is dynamic, can compromise environments from an array of attack vectors, take endless form factors, launch attacks over time, and can quickly exfiltrate data from endpoints. Such malware, including polymorphic and environmentally aware malware, is very good at masking itself and evading traditional security tools, which can lead to a breach. As a result, it’s no longer a question of “if” malware can penetrate defenses and get onto endpoints, it’s a question of “when”.
While some organizations are already utilizing Big Data or various large enterprise analytics techniques, many more are still working to grasp how these new usage models might help them. There’s a lot of undiscovered value in the vast amounts of data they currently have and the data that they can get from other sources. They know that they can somehow convert this data into insights that will let them ramp up efficiency and be ready for tomorrow today.
In 2013, Bon Ton Stores invested in upgrading IT, continuing to update and expand its eCommerce sites, and launching a new mobile site supporting delivery of promotions and online purchasing. A central aspect of this technology upgrade involved the replacement of an x86 server environment, supporting eCommerce with ten IBM® PowerLinux™ 7R2 servers and IBM PowerVM® running IBM WebSphere® Commerce on SUSE Linux operating systems. This case study highlights of some of the key aspects of this significant migration and its results, including how Bon-Ton IT executives support the business and what they prioritize, why they decided to make this move, what performance and capability resulted, and how it affected full data center costs and business resilience.

By establishing an environment based on an enterprise-ready, open-source operating system — Red Hat® Enterprise Linux® — and a hardware platform based on Intel® architecture, organisations can immediately obtain benefits by migrating select workloads to a standardized environment. More ambitious modernization efforts can yield additional benefits, but the heart of every project should be a solid, proven foundation.
With SUSE Linux Enterprise Server on IBM Power Systems, you gain the benefits of the latest generation of Enterprise Linux OS with the power and reliability of IBM hardware. This combination provides the performance and flexibility to run the most demanding business-critical workloads.
