A comprehensive solution for leveraging data in today's financial industry. Most organizations realize that the key to success lies in how well they manage data—and the banking industry is no exception. From customer statistics to strategic plans to employee communications, financial institutions are constantly juggling endless types of information.
A comprehensive solution for leveraging data in today's retail environment. From customer data to product placement statistics, retail organizations are constantly juggling information. As the sheer amount of data continues to grow, it becomes increasingly difficult to manage. Not only does data come in many different forms—such as reports, memos and e-mails—but often it’s scattered across multiple repositories.
This whitepaper explores the new SPARC S7 server features and then compares this offering to a similar x86 offering. The key characteristics of the SPARC S7 to be highlighted are:

Phoenix Children’s CISO, Daniel Shuler, and its IT security team are responsible for protecting 5,000 endpoints in the hospital and across more than 20 clinics in the region. Endpoints include physician and staff laptops and desktops, nursing stations, servers, Windows-based clinical devices, credit card payment processors, and point-of-sale terminals. These endpoints are used to store and/or process personal health information (PHI), and payment and credit card information. They must comply with HIPAA for PHI and voluntarily comply with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) for credit card data. The IT security team’s existing industry-leading AV solution claimed to provide visibility into malicious activity aimed at the endpoints. It continuously reported all endpoints were safe, sound, and secure. This caused Daniel to be suspicious. He knew from experience that such low levels of endpoint malicious activity was highly unlikely. Read the full case study to learn about the results Cylance was able to deliver.
SSL certificates have moved beyond the ‘Buy’ page. They are embedded in your business. For example,
they protect remote communications via webmail, chat and IM. Browser-to-server communications
for cloud-based services require SSL certificates to protect confidential information. In addition, SSL
certificates are used to secure server-to-server communications for applications and data exchange.
In fact, SSL Certificates are a business-critical part of your IT infrastructure. However, managing
individual certificates in a large organization is complicated by multiple locations, many servers,
different business units, and rapidly growing Web-based services.
"SSL certificates have moved beyond the ‘Buy’ page. They are embedded in your business. In fact, SSL Certificates are a business-critical part of your IT infrastructure. However, managing individual certificates in a large organization is complicated by multiple locations, many servers, different business units, and rapidly growing Web-based services.
The risks of hiccups and problems increases with the number of certificates, including lost sales when customers see security warnings about expired certificates on your site, damage to your brand and consumer trust because of problems with certificates and more.
With these risks in mind, this guide provides five simple steps for IT professionals to take control of SSL certificates across the enterprise, and recommendations centralizing certificate management throughout their lifecycle."

The value of conventional on-premises servers is eroding. As with all decay, it starts slowly and declines steadily. Bits and pieces of the physical server market are peeling off as businesses turn away from conventional data center and IT closet deployments in favor of cloud-based infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS). And there’s no shortage of IaaS; hosting and service-provider companies are flooding the market with low-cost access to hosted servers. The challenge for adopting businesses is leveraging hosted assets that guarantee data security and integrity with fine-grained levels of adjustable capacity, high performance and price predictability.
The all-in-one configuration of the IBM BladeCenter S makes it a perfect fit in a small office. It integrates servers, storage, networking and I/O into a single chassis, which uses a standard electrical outlet. Plus, it's easy to use and manage, with tools that help manage energy use to lower total operating costs. Read all about this flexible, blade-based chassis and see how it streamlines and simplifies small office IT.
The challenges faced by midsize businesses remain daunting. An uncertain economic outlook, slow market growth and cost pressures continue to affect most industries. Yet, in most geographies, IT spending by midsize businesses is increasing. This report deals with this cost/benefit equation. Specifically, it compares the IBM i 7.1 operating system deployed on Power Systems with two alternatives: use of Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and SQL Server 2008, and use of x86 Linux with Oracle Database 11g, both deployed on Intel-based servers.

IDC Analyst Report: A New Breed of Servers for Digital Transformation
Most organizations today are on a digital transformation journey and a server infrastructure is a critical component of that journey. Read the IDC Analyst Report “A New Breed of Servers for Digital Transformation" to find out:
• A roadmap for servers in three stages - from running simple stateless web applications to adopting open source DBMSs to cloud to predictive modeling
• How you can take advantage of OpenPOWER-based infrastructure from a price/performance perspective
• Ways to lower your IT spend and increase your workloads with minimal investment
It is very clear that datacenter managers need, in addition to server virtualization, the virtualization, pooling, and management of all the other resources that interoperate with their VMs. They require virtualized network interconnects and storage. They also need the tools to manage and automate these converged IT assets as an integrated datacenter system.
This more agile system is the key to enabling the shift to a cloud-based infrastructure IT delivery model. Solution providers like HP are now addressing the need for more optimized and agile IT solutions. They are delivering virtualized storage, virtual application network (VAN) infrastructure, and the orchestration software to manage and automate all these ingredients as a single system. Read this whitepaper to learn more.
In this White Paper IDC sees the use of static x86 server configurations is quickly becoming an outdated concept with the introduction of modern solutions based on blade architectures, which can offer both intelligent configuration and management and the ability to perform physical-to-virtual migration to promote uptime and efficient resource usage. When combined with the quickly maturing x86 hypervisor technologies available from a variety of solution providers, the synergy of blade architectures and virtualization offers customers the ability to dramatically increase utilization of their server investments, boost uptime, provide a more resilient and available infrastructure, and roll out new infrastructure and services more quickly.

This white paper examines the economics of deploying Red Hat's Storage Server. Based on GlusterFS, a distributed file system that Red Hat acquired as part of Gluster, Red Hat Storage Server is ushering in a new era of software-based storage (also known as software-defined storage by many suppliers) solutions. Such solutions leverage commodity x86-based hardware from server vendors and a distributed shared nothing architecture that allows businesses to build out a service-based storage infrastructure in an economically feasible manner.
